MVNX Viewer

A free, browser-based viewer for .mvnx motion-capture files — the XML export from Movella / Xsens MVN Analyze.

MVNX Viewer lets you open and inspect an .mvnx file directly in your web browser: play back the 3D body skeleton, scrub frame-by-frame, plot per-joint angles, see foot-contact events on a timeline, and track the centre of mass. There is nothing to install, and your data never leaves your computer — the file is parsed locally in the browser.

What is an .mvnx file?

An .mvnx file is the open XML export produced by Movella / Xsens MVN motion-capture software. It contains, per frame, the 3D positions and orientations of the body segments, joint angles, centre of mass, and foot-contact flags. MVNX Viewer reads this .mvnx export; it does not open the proprietary binary .mvn project file — export your recording to .mvnx from MVN Analyze first.

Features

3D skeleton playbackRotate, zoom, play and frame-step; follow-cam keeps walking and running trials in view.
Per-joint angle chartsPlot any joint's angles across the file with a live cursor synced to the 3D view; click to scrub.
Foot-contact timelineStance ribbons and touchdown / toe-off markers from the recording's foot-contact data.
Centre-of-mass trackingShow the centre of mass and its trajectory trail through the movement.

How to use it

  1. Open MVNX Viewer and drag your .mvnx file onto the window (or click “Open .mvnx”).
  2. Press play or scrub the timeline; open the Joints panel to add angle charts.
  3. Everything runs in your browser — no upload, no account, no install.

Privacy

MVNX Viewer is fully client-side. Your .mvnx file is read and rendered in your own browser and is never uploaded to any server.

Frequently asked questions

Is MVNX Viewer free?

Does it upload my data?
No. Files are parsed locally in your browser; nothing leaves your machine.
Can it open .mvn files?
No. It opens the .mvnx XML export. Export your recording to .mvnx from MVN Analyze first.
What do I need to run it?
A current web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) and your .mvnx file.
What are MVNX, Movella and Xsens?
MVNX is the XML motion-capture export format from Movella (formerly Xsens) MVN inertial motion-capture systems.
